We aim to offer comprehensive support and guidance to ensure your understanding and satisfaction in your cask ownership journey.
Why purchase casks over bottles?
Whisky bottled at the age of ten remains a ten-year-old Scotch, while a cask enables the Whisky to appreciate in value over time. Due to natural evaporation during maturation, casks are exempt from capital gains tax, and duty is suspended until the moment of bottling.
What is included in a cask purchase?
Our cask sales are personalised for you, featuring both aged and new-make casks. Storage and insurance are typically included in most purchases, though specifics may vary based on your selection. Please ensure to thoroughly read the item's description for clarity.
Is there a minimum holding period?
Upon acquiring a cask from us, it becomes your property. Nonetheless, we highly recommend considering any whisky purchased for investment with a minimum holding period of five years.
Do I take delivery of my cask?
Acquiring a cask doesn't require you to find storage solutions, as casks must be legally stored in duty-suspended bonded warehouses in Scotland during maturation. You can avoid excise and duty payments if you choose not to bottle your whisky, and many cask investors often sell them for a profit.
Why is whisky investment so popular?
Whisky has demonstrated itself as a compelling alternative investment—a tangible asset that, on occasions, has provided greater financial stability than stocks and shares, typically appreciating in value with age. While we cannot provide guarantees about a cask's future performance, we can reference its historical track record.

Casks: Cask services are chargeable to you, including regauging, samples, and photographs. All casks are stored within HMRC-bonded warehouses and are subject to strict rules and regulations set by HMRC. If you wish to sample or bottle your cask, duty and VAT will be due before the whisky or rum has been bottled and the finished goods are removed from the HMRC-bonded warehouses. This remains the responsibility of the cask owner. “New Make” spirit has to be matured for 3 years, during which time its alcoholic strength could reduce. In addition, the volume of spirit will decrease over time (“the Angels’ share”). For the product to be classed as “whisky”, it must retain a minimum strength of 40%.
